Stress, The Hidden Culprit

Whether we’re at home, at work, or at school we hear all those around us announcing how stressful their lives have become.  We often wonder how to define the word stress today.  It would best be understood as the interpretation of what is happening in our environment.  If we perceive it to be negative than we deem our world as stressed, and if positive than we move into a more peaceful and loving world for ourselves.

What we feel and how we act are dependent on our beliefs, which we freely choose.   Truly it is only a thought that keeps us bound to negative events, and a thought can be changed in a twinkle of an eye.  These thoughts or emotions produce most of our physical disease.  For every physical ailment has an emotional counterpart to it, which means that the mind can heal the body but the body cannot heal the mind.

There has been much research on the connection between the two.  A group of doctors had several patients smell a fragrance with each dose of prescription drug administered.  After a short period of time they simply had the patients smell the fragrance without consuming the drug – and what they found is that their bodies created the chemistry that the drug had enacted simply by the stimulation of the fragrance.  How the mind controls not only the body but also environmental influences is absolutely stifling at times.

Our subconscious mind sets the mode for us – not often, but always.  A good indication of that is when we feel pain of any sort - guilt is the underlying stimulator.  Guilt always seeks punishment and punishment creates pain - a cycle that can be broken with acceptance and love.  Is that to say that we are all guilty of something – No, just that we perceive that we are more often than not.  For every habit we have, for every experience we go through over and over, for every pattern we repeat, there is some need within us for it.  This need corresponds to some belief we have created within us.  If there were not a need, we wouldn’t be doing something, have something, or create the situation a certain way.

There is something within us that needs the abusive relationship, the poverty, the guilt, the extra fat, all the failures, the burdens, or whatever there is that’s a problem for us.  In other words, we create our environment.  What we believe to be – will be.  The acceptance of our self removes internal conflict.  The acceptance of others removes external conflict.  The war is always within.  The stress that is erupting can be eliminated by letting go of the fear, by letting go of the anger, the hurt, and the negative feelings.   Replace this with love, acceptance, positive thoughts, and forgiveness – not just of others, but also of our self.  Visualize that which you want to happen for every thought we think is creating our future.   Release the need and the pattern for situations that we no longer care to act upon and we release what we perceive to be – what we define as STRESS.
