Which Snoring Remedies are the Best for You?

The dozens of snoring remedies available out there make it extremely difficult and aggrevating to choose the right remedy for you. To add insult to injury, many of these remedies are costly and may have undesirable side effects. I have two criteria when considering snoring remedies. First, is it a natural approach? Second, does it address the cause?

Is your snoring the result of obesity? If so, then you can ignore all other snoring remedies for now and become committed to losing weight. Your obesity is most likely causing you many other problems as well, snoring being only one of them. You can lose weight! You just need to make it your major and primary goal in life. You will feel much better as each pound comes off and you mostly likely will stop snoring.

One of the most popular snoring remedies out there right now are orthodontics anti snoring appliances. If you aren't obese but still snore, this may be a good option for you. Now, this approach may be natural because it doesn't involve surgery or medication, but it certainly doesn't address the cause. These orthodontics anti snoring appliances, therefore, are a good temporary solution to the snoring while you investigate the true cause of your snoring.

Among the snoring remedies out there is surgery. I wouldn't recommend this as a first line of attack. We are becoming too comfortable with surgery as a solution to a great number of illnesses that have better and natural solutions. All surgery harms the body to some extent and in many cases is unecessary. It's also very expensive and insurance may not cover it.

Snoring sprays also rank high among the snoring remedies now available. Again, this approach is topical, meaning it only deals with the symptom and not the cause. You want to avoid spraying stuff into your body. The things we willingly put in our bodies these days is scary. A snoring spray may be a good short term symptom minimizer while you are investigating the root of your problem.

I've heard of some people using earplugs as a way to cope with a partner who snores. It's not invasive and may get the job done, but it certainly isn't doing anything to get at the source of the problem. Remember, any anti snoring remedy that only masks the symptom should only be short term.

One of the least invasive of the snoring remedies is the chin strap, which keeps the mouth closed. This is a harmless approach and doesn't do any harm. If this works for you, it would be a great temporary solution as you attempt to cure the root cause of your problem.

The best snoring remedies are natural and address the cause of your ailment. Surgery and drugs should be a last resort or just a temporary solution. Stop snoring devices don't harm the body but they also don't address the cause. So, they are a good short term solution. If you are obese, then losing weight should be the first step.
